They provide emotional support for families, and encourage optimum development of children facing a broad range of challenging experiences in a healthcare and hospitalization environment.
Child Life Specialists acknowledge that a childâs well-being depends on the support of the family. They become a crucial resource by providing educational information, support and guidance to parents, siblings, and other family members. They also play a vital role in educating caregivers, administrators, and the general public about the needs of children under stress. Child Life Specialists are a cherished member of the Primary Children's Medical Center medical team.
Entry Rate: $15.35 Benefits Eligible: Yes Shift Details: 36 hours/ M, T: 6:30am â" 1:30pm, Th: 9:30am â" 6:00pm, F 6:30am â" 2:00pm. Weekday shifts may vary. May be asked to work evenings, Sundays, Saturdays and holidays depending on patient needs Department: Primary Children's - Child Life
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Intermountain verifies both degree attainment and educational institution accreditation following an offer of employment.
Child Life Certification from Child Life Council, Inc. or eligible for Child Life Certification (to be obtained within six months of hire date)
Child Life experience in a medical or hospital setting
Computer experience in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases or similar applications
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Child Life Certification from Child Life Council, Inc.
Two or more years (4000 or more paid hours) Clinical Child Life Experience
Child life work experience in Same Day Surgery
