POSITION
Our! software engineer will be involved in .NET development projects for the replatforming of our content production and management systems (customer-facing medical research search engine) moving from Unix to a .Net / cloud based environment (BizTalk and Azure). You will work with product and operation teams to design and build innovative technical solutions. You will contribute to the implementation of these systems, participating in an environment of learning, and supporting an atmosphere of continuous improvement. You will also be responsible for a continuous build environment, code quality, and complete production implementation / verification.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key contributor on a small team responsible for application design, documentation, framework development, and reviewing the deliverables for consistency, adherence to standards, and quality. This position will involve hands-on development and level-3 application support once up ! to speed.
- Ensure the quality, security, stability! and agility of systems architecture to meet evolving business needs.
- Assist in the creation of project and test plans.
- Work directly with product management and content operations teams during envisioning.
- Provide strong leadership in advancing the vision of the product team.
- Guide development team in estimating feature development stories â" story pointing .
- Shared responsibility for establishing consensus on deliverable commitments.
- Shared responsibility to select and implement applicable hardware, software, platforms, tools, and programming languages.
- Shared responsibility for developing any necessary standards or guidelines for development.
- Participate in design sessions and may facilitate design/code reviews.
- Proactively and consistently communicate task status.
- Involve appropriate constituencies in making key project decisions.
- Collaborate well with project management,! development, business owner, and other stakeholders in the implementation of project deliverables.
- Communicate risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies to appropriate stakeholders and escalate if necessary to ensure the projectâs success.
- Some travel required / possibly one trip a month to our other offices in Chicago and New York City.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelorâs degree or higher in a technically oriented field preferably Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 5 years professional experience with C# ideally in a .Net 4.5 shop.
- Experience with WCF / Windows Workflow development and configuration (data manipulation is the focus here).
- Strong SQL Server 2008 back-end experience and SQL programming skills preferred.
- Understanding and experience applying design patterns preferred (MVC, dependency injection, factory pattern).
- Experience w! ith build automation, continuous integration, and source code branching! strategies.
- Experience with application and data modeling a plus.
- BizTalk application design and development experience a plus. Experience with BizTalk Activity Monitoring and BizTalk Rules Engine also a plus.
- Experience working with RESTful services preferred. Experience with more traditional web services and SOAP will be considered.
- Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services.
- Experience with developing pipeline components, orchestrations, schemas and maps.
- Experience with Agile software development practices, specifically scrum desirable.
- Experience with Microsoft Team Foundation Server.
- Experience with Test Driven Development.
- Experience building scalable platforms.
- Experience with XML, XSLT and XML Schema.
- Knowledge or experience with Azure and AWS.
- Understanding or experience in test automation.!
- Experience with large data processing systems.
- Outstanding written & verbal communication and presentation skills able to interact effectively with business teams / management and communicate technical vision to the development team.
- Strong analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
