We are currently looking for a Coding Manager to work out of our Salt Lake City, UT, Forth Worth, TX, or Pasadena, CA locations.
The Coding Manager is responsible for planning, organizing and supervising the coding department to provide optimum coding in accordance with procedures, goals and standards; oversees proper DRG, CPT and ICD-9 coding on a daily basis; and serves as a liaison between the Coders, the Director of Compliance, and the Corporate Director of Coding/Transcription services, to include communication with appropriate physicians, office managers and staff. The Coding Manager prepares Excel reports and analysis /audits ; monitors production output, and prep! ares other reports and projects as requested. Qualified candid! ates must have the following:
Education and Experience:
- Associates degree in Health Information Management/Technology, Natural Science, or similar study. Some college level courses and progressive work experience in lieu of degree will also be considered.
- Must possess and maintain a minimum of one (1) of the following current coding credentials from AHIMA or AAPC: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, or CPC.
- Minimum of five (5) years coding experience in a medical coding unit required. Coding experience for anesthesia, ASC, and inpatient services a plus.
- Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience required.
- Knowledge of ICD-10.
- Knowledge of third party fee profiles and reimbursement mechanisms.
- Knowledge of medical records coding procedures.
- Knowledge of third party fee profiles and reimbursement requirements.
- Knowledge of medical ! terminology, DRG, CPT and ICD-9 coding, Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance procedures.
- Experience in medical setting, claims procedures.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with coworkers as well as physicians.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well under little guidance.
- Objective in detail approach to problem solving.
- Good investigative and organizational skills.
- Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with physicians and staff.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Ability to perform audits and coding seminars/education as needed.
