Job Summary

Responsibilities
Provides administrative support to clinicians, supervisors and departments by coordinating calendars, scheduling meetings and appointments. Types and proofs correspondence, memoranda, reports, proposals, technical papers, manuscripts and related materials. Transcribes dictation relating to medical histories, physical examinations, discharges and other special notes involving a wide variety of medical te! rminology. Schedules patients for laboratory tests, medical ex! aminations and consultations. Prepares and maintains accurate and orderly patient medical records.
Arranges or assists in arranging patient transportation. Assists patients, patientsâ families, referring physicians, and third party carriers to resolve patient related issues, including explaining various types of medical insurance plans. Obtains pre-certifications as required by patientsâ health care plan or managed care provider when needed. Enters data into IDX , Allegra, Powerchart and Ormis and other word processing and spreadsheet software. Provides additional general office and clinical support such as answering phones and responding to calls, greeting and directing visitors/patients, filing, copying, making travel arrangements and opening and processing mail.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency required. Four years secretarial experience with at least two years of experience in a hospital, clinic or laboratory setti! ng; knowledge of medical terminology; strong word processing and spreadsheet software skills; demonstrated organizational, human relations, and effective communication skills also required. Patient registration or related experience preferred. Successful completion of IDX Scheduling, IDX Radiology, Powerchart, ORmis and Allegra training may be required within a department-specific hiring date.
