Job Summary
Gathers, organizes and analyzes data through literature searches and medical record reviews for ! the Dept of Surgery, Division of General â" Transplantation.
Responsibilities
Collects and compiles data from a variety of sources; enter data into a PC. Maintains transplant database in conjunction with Huntsman Cancer Institute, the School of Medicine and Primary Childrenâs Hospital.
Prepares format for final disposition of data; maintains an internal library on project information design and preparation of research projects and in recording data. Other duties as assigned by Program Manager.
1. Enters information into computerized information systems.
2. Researches and evaluates all documents for accuracy and completeness to ensure correct data is entered.
3. Reviews input against source documents for accuracy and edits as needed.
4. Maintains document master files for backup and verification.
5. Will be required to run queries and reports.
6. May be required to perform clerical duties as ! necessary.

Minimum Qualifications
Two years data entry experience or equivalency required (1 year of college education is equivalent to 2 years of related work experience). Proficiency in the use of data entry equipment and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills are also required. The hiring department may require a minimum typing ability.
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
The applicant must be a student with an accepted Work-Study award for the current academic year. Work-Study award status may be viewed through CIS on the Financial Aid Status page.
Preferences
Bachelors degree in a social or behavioral science, health, liberal arts or a field related to the are! a of research. One year experience in research and analytical techniques; one year of coding experience using ICD -9 CM or equivalency. knowledge of medical terminology and demonstrate human relation and effective communication skills required.
Prior medical or epidemiological research experience helpful. Ability to work both independently and within team environment. Will work with a variety of individuals and clinical research studies. Must be professional, reliable and able to multi task. Will be asked to successfully compile HIPAA , CITI and some RATS classes within 30 days of hire.
