HIM Coding Specialist III
Location: Ogden Utah
Description: Intermountain Home Care is looking of HIM Coding Specialist III right now, this position will be placed in Utah. The purpose of this position is to assign ICD-9-CM diagnosis and procedure codes and DRG assignment for inpatient encounters, ICD-9-CM diagnosis and procedure codes, CPT-4 procedure codes, and APC assignment! for outpatient encounters. This is to ensure a valid database used for research, reporting, quality improvement activities, reduce days not final billed (DNFB), and appropriate reimbursement. This position may assist the HIM Director and/or Coding Supervisor with the training and mentoring of new coders.
Minimum Requirements
Holds at least one of the following AHIMA credentials: Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).
Cross-trained with the ability to code at least two of the following patient types: Inpatient, Same day surgery, Emergency Department.
Anatomy and Physiology coursework or demonstrated proficiency
Pathophysiology coursework or demonstrated proficiency
Knowledge of PPS methodology for inpatient and/or outpatient encounters
Good computer skills and knowledge
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Hearing, Listening, Speaking, Manually Dexterity
Preferred Qualifications
CCS certification
