Description: Intermountain Home Care is employing HIM Coding Spec III - Full time right now, this vacancy will be placed in Utah. The purpose of this position is to assign ICD-9-CM diagnosis and procedure codes and DRG assignment for inpatient encounters, ICD-9-CM diagnosis and procedure codes, CPT-4 procedure codes, and APC assignment for outpatient encounters. This is to ensure a valid database used for research, reporting, quality improvement activities, reduce days not final billed (DNFB), and appropriate! reimbursement. This position may assist the HIM Director and/or Coding Supervisor with the training and mentoring of new coders.
Full time, 40 hours per week.
This position will be working from home after completion of training. This position doesn't have a home facility and will be asked to code for different facilities according to the need.
Starting salary: $19.48/hour - Benefits eligible.
Minimum Requirements
Holds at least one of the following AHIMA credentials: Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).
Cross-trained with the ability to code at least two of the following patient types: Inpatient, Same day surgery, Emergency Department.
Anatomy and Physiologycoursework or demonstrated proficiency
Pathophysiology coursework or demonstrated proficiency
Knowledge of PPS methodology for inpatient and/or outpatie! nt encounters
Good computer skills and knowledge
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Physical Requirements
Lifting, Hearing and Listening, Manual dexterity,Motor Coordination, Seeing, Speaking, Standing
Preferred Qualifications
CCS certification
