Primary Children's hospital is seeking skilled and experienced nurses who are looking for a challenging and rewarding career in our Level IV NICU. Primary Children's 50-Bed NICU is the only LEVEL IV NICU in the Intermountain West with the ability to provide every subspecialty service and Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) for our patients. Patients come to us through our Fetal Medicine referr als or from referrals from outlying hospitals because the baby needs the highest level of care which our Level IV NICU provides. Nurses on our unit receive extensive education during the orientation period and throughout their careers through our skills days, simulation laboratories, educational conferences and a variety of other professional growth opportunities. Our NICU offers a Clinical Progression program allowing the NICU RN to increase their skills as well as being compensated for completing these advanced modules.

The NICU Registered Nurse (RN) at Primary Children's is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of newborns requiring care from pediatric sub-specialists in cardiology, neurology, neurosurgery, general surgery, and neonatology disciplines.

We are currently offering up to $20,000 in BONUSES for nurses with 2 or more years of LEVEL IV NICU experience .

Minimum Requirements

Current RN License in state of practice.
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
Unit specific certification as required (i.e., ACLS, PALS, etc.).
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
B asic computer skills.
Physical Requirements

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulat ing patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).
May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
Preferred Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
NICU Experience
2 yrs. of CURRENT Level IV NICU RN work experience (current = within the last year) to qualify for the Sign On Bonus
