Job Duties/Responsibilities Food Service Workers prepare, produce, heat, cook, and serve a variety
of foods from fresh, canned, dry, or frozen states according to recipes,
and assist in other related tasks in a designated food service production
and/or service area. They perform cleaning and sanitizing duties
according to HACCP, LA County Health Department, and LAUSD Food
Services Standard Operating Procedures. Typical duties performed by
Food Service Workers include:
- Preparing and producing a variety of foods
- Setting up and merchandising food and food service areas, and serving
food
- Operating kitchen equipment and utilizing kitchenware
- Practicing safe food handling procedures
- Cleaning and sanitizing, mopping, and disposing of waste according to
the Food Services Operating Procedures, OSHA, the State, and L.A.
County Health Department procedures
- Assisting in taking inventory
- Assisting in preparing sales, production, and other reports
- Accepting and counting money, tickets, or cards for redemption of foods
and beverages
All work will be performed on-site and in-person.
Please Note: Food Service Workers work 4 to 6.5 hours per day,
depending on the budgeted vacant position at each school site.
Minimum Requirements All employees must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated and must be able to
provide verification of their vaccination status as part of the hiring and
onboarding process prior to an official offer of employment to any District
site; this includes current employees who are being promoted to a new
job class.
Desirable Qualifications Ideal candidates for this position will demonstrate the ability to:
- Work rapidly and efficiently in performing job duties
- Work cohesively with peers, supervisors, school personnel, and
students
- Work in large groups or crowds
- Apply and maintain standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and personal
hygiene
- Perform basic arithmetic, count money and make change accurately
