About This Role:
In this role you will conduct investigations into sensitive complaints regarding discrimination or harassment, on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions, age (at least 40 years of age), marital status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, or status as a veteran.
Your essential duties will include:

  • Conducting investigations into EEO complaints of discrimination, harassment, or retaliation in an efficient, neutral, prompt, thorough, and professional manner.
  • Developing investigative plans and interviewing complainants, respondents, and witnesses.
  • Analyzing evidence and determining relevancy, materiality, and veracity.
  • Analyzing and interpreting data, policies, regulations, procedures, and legal precedents.
  • Researching best practices and staying abreast of EEOC guidelines.
  • Planning, designing, implementing, and facilitating training for a diverse level of management and employees.
  • Using tact, effective communication to support and communicate with Departments, management, and employees.
  • Providing data analysis reports related to EEO, such as adverse impact analysis, trend analysis for cases, and other data analysis, as required.

Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and 5 years of related (investigating Equal Employment Opportunity complaints in a large organization) experience.

To be successful in this role you will need to have functional knowledge of Title I and Title II of the ADA, Title VI, and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and other related state and federal regulations and court precedents and/or administrative decisions related to discrimination and employment law.

Preferences:
Preference will be given to applicants with one or more of the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree with major course work in Human Resources, Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, Law, or a directly related field and 5 years related work experience leading/investigating EEO complaints and writing decisions.
  • Professional experience conducting investigations in a state, local, or municipal government setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound, professional decisions consistent with Federal, State, and local civil rights laws, statutes, ordinances, regulations, policies, and procedures in an environment with a formalized EEO/discipline/grievance process.
  • Confidence in public speaking
  • Spanish language skills.
  • A quick study with technology with expertise using MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate through email and in-person.
Ideally you will have the ability to:
  • Comprehend and assess complex EEO issues
  • Conduct thorough interviews and interact professionally with staff of all levels
  • Produce clear and concise, well-reasoned written investigative reports
  • Coach/advise employees and managers through sensitive EEO issues to resolve conflict and seek workable solutions
  • Multi-task within timelines
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, management, and various agencies at all levels of the organization, complainants, respondents, citizens, business community, and the general public
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding the sensitive nature of investigations

Work Schedule:
37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with a flexible schedule.

Special Requirements:
The selected candidate’s offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a background investigation, which includes Criminal History Check, I-9, and E-Verify requirements.

Entry Salary Range:
$69,186.00 - $92,293.00
