The position includes clinical, administrative, education, and research duties. The approximate time assigned in each of area as of the date of this statement is listed below. The clinical serv ice will focus on the diagnosis and treatment of patients with acute and chronic liver disease. In this context, the applicant will play an important role in several interdisciplinary teams to manage patient with hepatocellular cancer and to assist in the pre-transplant work-up of potential candidates for liver transplantation and in their post-operative follow up. The position also includes opportunities in telemedicine to improve access to gastroenterology and hepatology service in the large referral area serviced by the section. This may change over time depending on the needs of the Service and the Medical Center. The time allotment is consistent with information contained in the physician mapping tool that is used to follow physician duties and productivity. The specific allocation within each area (eg. number of clinics per week, number of months attending on inpatient ward services) is found in the mapping tool.
Basic Requirements:- United States Cit izenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.

- Our GI section is looking for a board -certified or board-eligible interventional gastroenterologist with special interest and expertise in hepatology.
- The job responsibilities include clinical evaluations of patients, including routine endoscopic procedures, after hour calls to perform emergency assessments and procedures.
- Have current clinical appointment on the faculty of the University of Utah School of Medicine, in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
