The role
The role of the Kaitohu is to support the Pou Ahurea and Group Manager Community Services and Facilities to provide practical support to Council on how it enacts Te Tiriti of Waitangi and its principles. The position sits within Te Pou Mataaho; the Iwi Māori Partnerships and Capability Team, and supports the four pou identified in Te Rautaki Tikaka Rua | Bicultural Strategy. The pou are Kā Mahi, He Takata, Kā Honoka and He Huarahi Hou.
Te Pou Mataaho is a small team that sit within our Community Services and Facilities Group and reports directly to the Group Manager Community Services and Facilities.

Are you a reo Māori speaker and are you active in your whānau, hapū and Iwi?
Are you interested in advocating for Iwi and for helping to lead cultural change, working with work colleagues to grow their understanding and competency in te ao Tahu and te ao Māori?
Are you interested in working in Local Government and influencing policy and strategy?
