THE ROLE
As the Public Affairs Manager Netherlands you will be developing, managing and executing Imperial Brands’ strategy in the Netherlands vis-à-vis legislative initiatives impacting the current and future Imperial Brands business. You will be reporting to and working in close co-ordination with Head of Corporate & Legal Affairs, to support in delivering our CLA agenda in the Netherlands to create time, space and opportunities for commercial growth and benefit.
Additionally, you will support, and depending on circumstances, take the lead in our stakeholder engagement in the Netherlands. In this role you will not only engage with internal but also with a wide range of external stakeholders (e.g. members of parliament, media, stakeholders from trade & industry and other relevant parties).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop & maintain an in-depth understanding of the political and regulatory issues affecting Imperial Brands in the Netherlands
- Analyse political developments, track regulatory changes and report internally
- Support and, manage the development of Imperial’s Corporate Affairs strategy / political campaigns in the Netherlands - including through the development of technical / political argumentation, definition of strategy / action plans, pro-active engagement with key stakeholders, etc.
- Coordinate all presentations, inquiries and responses involving regulatory and legislative groups
- Establish and maintain a wide network & positive relationships with government agencies, members of Parliament and other regulatory authorities
- Represent Imperial Brands in industry association(s) at public affairs working group level
- Support secretariat of industry association(s) with position papers and other relevant information
- Provide support to the Head of CLA during the market planning process
- Advise internal business clients on CA issues (impact, process, strategy)
- Liaise with company and head office specialists
- Identifies opportunities for external publication in liaison with the legal department
- Support in administrative tasks related to the departmental management
- Manager Public Affairs budget in coordination with the Head of CLA
YOUR PROFILE
- Minimum of 1 up to 5 years of working experience in a Public Affairs / Communications role (preferably within FMCG business, consultancy or Institutions)
- Master’s degree in Law, Economics, Finance, Politics (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Thorough understanding of political processes in general
- In depth knowledge of Dutch institutions and the political landscape with pre-existing contacts in the political world
- Ability to package complex information into concise messages relevant for different stakeholders
- Good communicator with excellent writing and presentation skills
- Commercial mind set
- Excellent analytical skills
- Fluency in Dutch and English
Desirable
- Experience of working for, or with, Trade Associations, Think Tanks or Social Media
- Pre-existing network in the political arena (existing professional relationship with Members of Parliament, Assistants to MPs, etc.)
